Throughout my life I have noticed how little guidance there is when it comes to maintaining the health of you and your family. This is what drives me, to guide my community in making important health decisions that will lead to better health and a better life for you and your family.

Have you ever noticed that some people get sick while others don’t? Ever notice that some people get colds every winter, or some colleagues call in sick a lot while others never do? This is all related to your personal General Adaptive Potential. (GAP)

In our life we often have chronic stress. remember the 3 different stresses; physical, chemical and emotional. These stresses are usually not so overwhelming that they result in instant death.

But with the buildup of the stresses, from the foods we eat and drink, medications we take that have a book full of side effects, sitting at school or at work for hours on end, and let’s not mention all our bad habits…

Sometimes we get enough of these chronic stresses that our body cannot fully process it and, as a result, our health reduces. If this stays unresolved, “the quality and quantity of our life goes down as well.” says Annika, The chiropractic advisor at The Right Chiro.

What is General Adaptive Potential or GAP exactly? This is your space or room in which your body is able to adapt to stress in your environment. Adaptation is when there is a stressor and your body uses this forces either to build itself (like when we go to the gym or eat healthy) up or the stress overwhelms your body and breaks it down (you get dis-eased).

When you do not take that control  over the choices you make and influence your GAP and your environment, you lose your health. What do you lose when you lose your health? As we’ve mentioned before, your health affects the quality and quantity of your life. This means every choice you make either supports your adaptive potential and potentially makes it bigger or takes away from your space and leads to health issues.

As chiropractic removes vertebral subluxation, (points in your spine that aren’t functioning properly and interfere with your nervous systems ability to control your body) it helps you broaden your GAP.  When your body knows what’s right to do at the right time, you can live a healthier, happier and more fulfilled life.

Imagine that you don’t get sick so often anymore, you don’t have to call in sick from work, you don’t have so much work to catch up on when you are back. You actually get to be productive, you might get that raise, or you get more projects done in the same amount of time, which means a better revenue.  And when you are home, you get to enjoy the time at home more, get more things done around the house, or spend more quality time with your family and friends. When you live a subluxation free life, you broaden your GAP, you live a happier, healthier and more fulfilled life.

Now you know what you can do to broaden your GAP, you can make the right choices for your body and you won’t get sick as much anymore.
