It is always tough with babies that are less than a year old. They cannot communicate in any other way than emotional outbursts, namely crying. This causes stress for you and for the little one, but why are they crying? How do you know what is causing the issue? WHat kind of stress can your little one really be under?

The journey through the birth canal and the birthing process creates a lot of stress and pressure on your body and your baby’s body (especially their head and neck). This is further increased by any artificial intervention from an epidural, to vacuum and forceps and especially with C-sections. Research shows that infants with any outside assistance around the birthing process have a higher probability of birth traumas.

decrease stress

After the delivery the stress does not stop. Your baby goes through dramatic growth and development in the first year of its life. It learns to sit, crawl, stand, walk and talk. If there was trauma during birth, this may stunt the proper development of all these milestones; and with learning to sit, stand and walk  your body experiences as many as 2500 falls causing additional stress.

Let’s look at the common reasons your baby may be experiencing stress and crying uncontrollably:

  1.  Birth and/or post birth trauma
  2.  Head Shape Irregularity
  3.  Food and Allergy problems
  4.  Recurrent ear infections
  5.  Feeding and latching difficulty
  6.  Difficulty Sleeping
  7.  Weakened immune system
  8.  Favouring one body or head position
  9.  Digestive problems
  10.  Colic and Reflux problems
  11.

A study of 1500 newborns aged between 24 hours and 5 days showed that 95% of them had some kind of improper function in their spine. A common cause of the above problems.

“Your baby’s brain grows to double its size in the first 12 months of life, and the rest of the nervous system is developing at a similar rate as it learns to coordinate itself with its new surroundings,” says The Urban Child Institute. Chiropractic care nurtures and strengthens the nervous system by making sure the vertebral column of your little one is in top form. This leads to your baby having a greater chance of being happier and healthier during this pivotal phase of growth and development.
